First foray into the world of Fujimi auto kits. I have absolutely no complaints as this model built up perfectly. Everything is as it is straight from the box. Kit decals went on nicely and conformed with almost no solvent needed. The body fit over the chassis with an almost perfect fit. Leaving only a small gap near one of the rear wheels but is unnoticeable.
Much is known of the Fujimi GT40 kits and being my first experience with it I can certainly understand why. Prior to the model I can say I had no experience with a GT40 of any kind. Now that it's built up it is a stunning car and I'll definitely be in the market for more in the future. Perhaps even the giant Trumpeter 1/12 kit!
This particular kit models chassis P/1016 "Handled by Holman & Moody, this Ford GT40 Mk II was raced in the three major long distance races in 1966; Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans. Its best result was a third in the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans where it was driven by Americans Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson. In 1967 it pressed back into action for the Daytona 24 Hours and the Le Mans Test where Mark Donohue and 1966 winner Bruce McLaren set the 5th fastest time. Since then chassis P/1016 has been restored to its striking gold and Day-Glo livery used at Le Mans in 1966. Today it is owned by a Swiss enthusiast, who regularly exercises the GT40. It is seen here during the 2006 Le Mans Classic, where the 40th anniversary of the Le Mans win was celebrated." (taken from ultimatecarpage.com)
Hope you enjoy the kit as much as I have. Thanks to Dave for the assist!
